Strengthening the leadership role of women in the region of Milagres, Ceará.
In July 2021, AMI’s new project began in partnership with the ACOM association, entitled “Marias in Action: Rights, Living and Dignity in times of COVID-19”, which will last for 8 months and is budgeted at 4,890 Euros, 100% financed by AMI.
This action is centered on strengthening the leadership role of women in the Milagres region, who are actively involved in the development of their communities and in the fight against social and gender inequality, but who have been heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, both on a socio-economic and on a psychological level.
The project will support these women by promoting awareness-raising actions by radio and internet to address issues related to social and racial discrimination and gender violence and encourage a change in the population’s behavior; mentoring, marketing courses and social media; implementation of income generating activities; distribution of food kits; psychosocial monitoring.
