Creating sources of income for families and communities with people living with HIV / AIDS, with special attention to orphans and other vulnerable children.

AMI has maintained its presence in Burundi since 1994, the 19th largest country in the world with the highest number of deaths due to HIV / AIDS and a large and very poor population, which remains heavily dependent on programs to prevent and support people living with HIV / AIDS and their families and communities. AMI’s partnership with the NGO SOSPED dates back to 2006. The current effort seeks to create sources of income for families and communities with people living with HIV / AIDS, orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC) due to HIV / AIDS. It also allowed this group access to health through the creation and management of health mutualities, as well as health promotion and education activities for HIV positive young people and children. The project has a total duration of just over 3 years.
