Beneficiaries: Directly benefits 70 students (pre-primary to 10th grade), 90 community leaders, 75 widows, 30 children (2 and a half to 5) in a nutritional program, 50 young mothers, 40 to 55 university students and, indirectly, 1100 family members (300 widows, 136 students, 104 kindergarten children, 120 of the nutritional program, 540 people in the parental care program, and 2000 to 3000 people in the community.
Completion of the construction of the Cultural and Social Center, support and assistance to the most disadvantaged in the Burgher (Portuguese-descendant) community, promoting community leadership and peaceful coexistence with other communities.
The “Sri Lanka Sri Lankan Burgher Foundation” carries out a number of activities, namely in the area of technical training and capacity building, which allows for easier integration in the labor market and in University, and other activities: social support for widows, management of two kindergartens and of the Social and Cultural Center D. Lourenço de Almeida (now headquarters of SLPBF). Completing the second phase of the 2nd floor of the 2nd Lourenço Almeida Center (construction started by AMI in 2008) is essential for the cultural and social activities that the foundation develops as technical training and training, allowing easier integration in the labor market and in University.
